Our Mission
The mission of the Student American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (SAOAO) is to serve as a resource for students to network, collaborate, and learn from each other. SAOAO aims to educate and represent osteopathic orthopedic surgeons of the future.

Services Provided
SAOAO is dedicated to supporting medical students interested in orthopedic surgery through educational events, professional development, and networking opportunities within the osteopathic community. The organization serves the college and broader osteopathic profession by hosting workshops, guest lectures, and skills labs that promote surgical competency and mentorship.

- Suture Lab
- Fracture Conferences hosted by orthopedic residents at Doctors Hospital
- Collaborative events with Clinical Anatomy & Pathology Club, the Surgery and Sports Medicine Club, the Association of Women Surgeons and others
- Casting and Splinting Lab
Spring:
- "How to Match into Ortho" hosted by the orthopedic residents at Doctors Hospital
- Additional Fracture Conferences hosted by orthopedic residents at Doctors Hospital
- Sawbones Lab -Arthrex Facility Tour & Surgical Skills Lab
- Collaborative events with Clinical Anatomy & Pathology Club, the Surgery and Sports Medicine Club, the Association of Women Surgeons and others
*Most events will be free and depend on physician volunteer availability. Annual dues or fundraisers may finance events and food (if applicable) as needed.
